Miryam Monasterios is a Venezuelan artist. She graduated as decorator and designer in Caracas in 1978. She studied drawing and painting at the School of Visual Arts "Rafael Monasterios" and graduated as Graphic Designer. Miryam painted in watercolor, acrylic and on silk. In 1992, she first entered in the cold paint on glass wich she learned from her mother. In 1996, she attended the workshops of stained glass organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art "Mario Abreu" in Maracay. That same year, she attended at Aruba's workshops of glassfused dictated by the Dutch artists Mieke Grooten and Frank van der Ham, this latter, a world authority in molten glass. She studied advanced fusion, taught at the workshops of the Museum of Contemporary Art "Sofia Imber" in Caracas (MACSI) from the master of glass, Leonel Valdespino.
Miryam has specialized in sculptural casting processes and torch glass. She has held numerous exhibitions in Curaçao, Aruba, Panama, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. During 2001 and 2002, she was the exclusive artist for the Hyatt Resort & Casino in Aruba with the exhibition of her works and a collection of her decorative Seascapes have their place in 50 suites at the Radisson Aruba Resort & Casino.
Miryam is the senior designer of her company Ara Pacis, N.V., for the production of glass products to meet specific orders from hotels, institutions and corporates. In the architectural area, she has worked mainly in the designing area for hotel’s interiors and remodelling thereof wich includes the Occidental Grand Aruba.
